Nelipak History

Nelipak Corporation, headquartered in Cranston, RI; was founded in 1953 by Loek Nelissen and his family in Venray in the south of The Netherlands

A family run business, the packaging operation set the industry standard in 1980 by being the first European vacuum thermoformer to introduce cleanroom manufacturing.

By 1995 with the acquisition of its Irish facility, Nelipak had established itself as Europe’s market leading custom thermoformer with in-house design, development and tooling capabilities, a position it still enjoys today.

In 2005 Nelipak became part of New Jersey based Sealed Air Corporation Medical Applications business. Expansion into North America followed with the acquisition in 2007 of Alga Plastics, RI; followed in 2012 by Advanced Thermoforming Enterprises Costa Rica.

During December 2013, Mason Wells acquired the Nelipak group from Sealed Air Corporation. In July 2014, under new management, Nelipak expanded its presence in the American Southwest with the acquisition of
Flexpak Corporation of Phoenix, Az. In July 2016, Nelipak acquired Tegrant Alloyd Brands of Puerto Rico, strengthening its commitment to the healthcare markets of Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and broader
Caribbean region. In April 2017, the company closed on the acquisition of Computer Designs.

July 2019, Kohlberg & Company acquired Nelipak from Mason Wells and in August of that year announced the the acquisition of Bemis Healthcare Packaging Europe from Amcor’s Flexible packaging business unit. Located in Derry, (Northern Ireland); Clara (Ireland); and Elsham (UK) the units are merged with Nelipak, significantly enhancing capabilities with the addition of flexible packaging alternatives for our global customers.
