Associate Quality Engineer

Galway, Ireland 

Supporting the Quality department, the Associate Quality Engineer plays a pivotal role in maintaining and improving the effectiveness of the Quality Management System.  S/he provides guidance to other departments as regards best practice and conformance to company and customer requirements and liaises with customers and suppliers. Key responsibilities include:

  • Manage Supplier quality performance and improvement via SCAR and Audit process
  • Manage qualification process for new Suppliers and ongoing assessment of existing Suppliers
  • Coordinate and review plant environmental monitoring results to ensure that internal standards are maintained. Utilise CAPA process to address any non-conformances
  • Support Management Review meetings, prepare performance trend report for meetings and monitor actions through to closure
  • Attend Operations, NPI, Quality and Audit meetings
  • Participate in Customer, Supplier, Internal and ISO certification audits and implementation of actions
  • Act as site point of contact for customer audit responses
  • Co-ordinate company’s FMEAs, host meetings and provide guidance to teams
  • Support Incoming Inspection activities by ensuring relevant personnel have current quality instructions and specifications and are qualified to perform duties
  • Support continuous improvement programmes
  • Support creation, review and approval of quality management system documentation
  • Provide support to manufacturing team on daily product quality issues – is authorised to stop Production run in the event of Quality issue being raised
  • Provide guidance and support to placement students within quality department

Skill Requirements:

  • 3rd Level Quality Assurance qualification
  • Six sigma green belt preferable
  • Lead Auditor
  • Experience in plastics materials desirable
  • Experience in a Quality function ideally within a manufacturing environment
  • A methodical approach
  • Attention to detail
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Excellent English language written and oral communications skills
  • Working knowledge of basic statistical techniques (Minitab)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word , PowerPoint
  • General knowledge of commonly used measuring equipment and instrument selection
  • Working knowledge of calibration process
  • Working knowledge of process, product & software validation
