Title: Thermoform Machine Operators Whitehall

Purpose
Responsible for the safe operation of forming machines and related equipment involved in the production of plastic formed parts, ensuring the quality in finished product being delivered to our customers.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the quality of the product created on thermoforming machines they operate during their shift.
- Must know Computer Designs Quality Policy and be familiar with all QOP’s and Work Instructions relevant to Manufacturing and Thermoforming Operators.
- Responsible for the safe, accurate, and expeditious tooling change-overs in thermoforming machines
- Responsible for the loading or creation of job programs for each individual tool.
- Responsible for the accurate and expeditious set-up of jobs in thermoforming machines.
- Responsible for setting up and using process scanners and / or closed-loop on all jobs where this technology is available.
- Must have an understanding of and practice Basic Lean Manufacturing Principles.
- Must have an understanding of and practice basic tooling repairs. This will include but not be limited to: Plug subtraction and addition, mold polishing, basic die maintenance and die liner adjustment.
- Must accurately measure product with Micrometers, gage fixtures and other gages or parts.
- Responsible for the inspection of the part to the print.
- Visually inspects product for conformance to standards, to ensure only acceptable product is released to the customers.
- Ensure product is properly packaged for shipment or secondary operations.
- Responsible for conducting a Pre-production meeting with picker / packers before every production run. This meeting will include but is not limited to: Packing Method, potential quality concerns, historical quality issues as reported in QC documentation.
- Maintain a clean machine and work station, wipes down equipment.
- Follows all safety rules.
- Accurately and completely fills out production and relevant quality documentation.
- Load rolled sheet material onto payoff and monitor former controls and line, will notify setup technician of any tooling problems and begin the Tooling NCM procedure.
- Makes suggestions for improvement and initiates participation in continuous process improvement on a daily basis through Teamwork, initiates Corrective Actions through Managing Up when applicable.
- Completes Process Data and Product Data Collections, as required.
- Will perform any and all preventative and corrective maintenance on thermoforming machines and ancillary equipment as required or requested by management. Will complete MARF’s to reflect this activity.
- Will assist Engineering and Design team in evaluation of proto-type tooling.
- Assist with cut/ punch, welding, and forming as needed.
- Must follow all procedures relating to the use of Heat Scanners and Closed Loop Temperature Control.
- Must demonstrate basic computer literacy.
- Must demonstrate manual dexterity and be mechanically inclined.
- Must demonstrate visual acuity.
- Requires the ability to bend, lift and move objects weighing up to 75 pounds on a regular basis

Education and/or Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education/experience.

Skills and Abilities
- Ability to apply basic mathematical skills of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Ability to use a calculator. Ability to calculate area and volume dimensions. Spatial acuity.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
- Moderately proficient user of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and Outlook is ideal. Highly adaptive and flexible to accepting new ideas, people and procedures. Must demonstrate effective listening, sound judgment, be well organized, take initiative, be flexible, and work well under pressure.

Working Conditions
- Requires sitting, standing, and walking.
- Shift hours are according to work requirements and/or plant demands.
- Availability to work overtime and weekend, if necessary.
- Lifting over 100-pounds required with special assistance.
Additional Notes
- Must use safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, ear plugs, hair and beard nets for the production area.
