Title: Conversion Team Leader
Department: Finishing Department

Purpose
Responsible for the Safety, Quality, Delivery & Performance of the Finishing department on a shift-byshift basis ensuring that department supports and drives the overall strategy of the site. Being a role model for the finishing hall in world class manufacturing practices.
Responsibilities
- Comply with all Health & Safety Policies and instructions and actively contribute to Company efforts
to promote safe behaviour and safe systems of work - Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and safety in the Finishing hall
- Promote and identify improvements through key departmental KPI’s across Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Cash, Employee & Engineering ensuring that the departmental KPI board is updated.
- Ensure all product that is produced meets the Quality specification applicable to each customer both internal and external
- Ensure Line-Clearance is completed in full at every product change
- Review customer complaints with Operators and feedback all findings and corrective actions to Management Sign-off ‘First Off’ Approval sheets & monitor all machines throughout the shift
- Liaise and support the planning team to ensure each asset is planned in the most efficient order to balance across all internal & external KPI’s
- Adjust labour to enable department to meet plan and supply customer requirements on time on a shift-by-shift basis
- Review the manning sheets and ensure cover meets the business needs, whilst raising any key gaps are raised to the Finishing Lead. Ensure all overtime is authorised
- Monitor all stocks and ensure stock accuracy across the department by conducting a weekly stock check and flagging any issues to the Finishing Lead / Manufacturing administrator
- Monitor all waste created and look for further opportunities to reduce waste
- Ensure all planned maintenance & medical cleaning activities are completed to a schedule, on time
and if full - Work closely with the Engineering team to ensure all breakdowns or maintenance issues are raised and closed off in a timely manner;
- Support and drive continuous improvement regarding people, processes and procedures
- Mentor all Finishing staff to maximise skill sets and become a role model for them ensuring all training and assignments are completed on time. Raising any key skills gaps to the Finishing Lead
- Work with Production Operators to improve the manufacturing process
- Complete and communicate a shift report and send to all relevant individuals and departments at the end of each shift
- Other duties commensurate with the level of position.
Operations:
- Align resources to manufacturing needs to ensure team leader remain in Finishing/Despatch.
- Ensure each operator has all the information / instruction / materials (cores, film, specification) required prior to the job start and any change of design.
- Communicate with each operator machine faults and issues in order to minimise waste and downtime.
- Operate and maximise production efficiencies of the Finishing Department.
- Supply the correct film and all other materials to the Slitting machines associated with the Slitting plan utilising the runner at all times.
- Ensure all SAP transactions at the end of the shift reflect the shifts running Slitting program.
- Inform the operators of any changes made to achieve specification.
- Inform maintenance of any breakdowns or work required to prevent breakdowns.
- Ensure all returned stock is labelled with the correct information, including part pallets then scanned back into the correct locations.
- Other duties commensurate with the level of position.
Despatch (during out of hours and in the absence of the Finishing Lead / Warehouse
Manager)
- Ensure all order picks are correct and complete in-line with the customer services weight specification.
- Ensure Despatch runs safely and efficiently in accordance with the despatch operating procedures.
- Ensure all wrapped reels and finished goods are supplied according to customer packaging specifications.
- Check off and sign all deliveries in accordance with the weight spec prior to despatch.
- Other duties commensurate with the level of position.
Health, Safety, Environmental Responsibilities:
- Be familiar with the Health and Safety Policy and to implement it always
- Develop a concern for Health & safety personally and for others, particularly new employees, contractors and visitors
- Avoid improvising
- Suggest ways of eliminating hazards
- Co-operate with the Company in maintaining a safe working environment and make your contribution to reducing accidents
- Take care of Company property entrusted to you, refrain from horseplay, the abuse of welfare facilities and the misuse of equipment
- Operate only items of equipment for which you have been trained, deemed competent and authorised to use
- Report to your Line Manager any defects in equipment. Ensure that equipment is in a safe and secure state when unattended
- Report any industrial injury, industrial disease, or any incidents which could result in personal injury or property damage, to your Manufacturing Manager
- Comply with any risk assessments and safe system of work which have been undertaken
- Obey company Health & Safety rules
- Set a personal example.

- Ensuring that waste is maintained at an absolute minimum and disposed of into the correct bins.
- Ensure that substances that may pose a threat to the environment are used with care and in
accordance with the instructions and training delivered. - Make the most efficient and effective use of all resources.
- Advise the Company of any shortfalls or oversights in its environmental arrangements.
- Be pro-active in conserving energy i.e. switching machinery off when not in use.
- Actively participate in improvement initiatives and the Environmental suggestion scheme
Key Skills, Knowledge & Competencies:
Education:
- Team Leader / Supervisory Qualification
- IOSH
Experience:
- 5 Years + FMCG Operation experience
- Proven knowledge of COSHH and relevant H&S regulations
- Have a good knowledge of leading a team of people across multiple assets
- Understanding of Continuous Improvement tools & techniques
Competencies:
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with limited supervision
- Proven analytical thinking, results orientation and problem-solving skills
- Strong organizational skills in handling multiple responsibilities simultaneously with high attention to details and a high level of accuracy
- Ability to communicate with a wide range of contacts from corporate to manufacturing employees – both oral and written
- Drives a high performing culture and Continuous Improvement
- Adapts a flexible approach.
