Purpose
Responsible for and has the authority to provide a maintenance service to plant and production machinery and equipment meeting budgetary, quality and G.M.P. requirements.
Responsibilities
- Assists with all new equipment development, installation and commissioning.
- Carries out all maintenance and preventative maintenance on all 24/6 equipment, repairs and rework to production machinery, tooling and fixtures, using the total range of machine tools, maintenance shop equipment and measuring equipment.
- Maintains all plant services e.g. air, water and heating and air conditioning, plumbing and sewer systems positive pressurized rooms and interlocking systems and ordering spare parts etc., including building and grants.
- Strong electrical diagnostic capabilities.
- Assists on all product and process improvement projects carrying out necessary calculations in modifying/generating blueprints.
- Monitors the performance of production equipment to identify potential downtime also to identify areas of faulty or weak design.
- Carries out functional evaluations on new components and/or components that have deviated from standard specification.
- Advises and assists in planning, interpreting and implementing testing of new materials and processes.
- Maintains good housekeeping, good work procedures, safety standards and adheres to company policy in relation to wearing protective clothing.
- Reports progress, problems, departures from plans to his Manager on a daily basis or as the need arises.
- Carry out calibration functions on all process equipment.
- Provides regular comprehensive reports on activities and progress against performance standards.
- Develop and maintain relationships with all personnel which will provide a basis for the achievement of the foregoing objectives.
- Strong Health & Safety ethics.
- Ensure all staff are adequately trained and training updated to suit business requirements.
- Work seamlessly with all departments.
Education and/or Experience:
- Degree in engineering or electrical, experience in tool making or fitting/turning.
- 10 years’ experience in high volume production environment with basic knowledge of Q.A. procedures.
- Previous supervisory experience or supervisory potential.
- Being a proven problem solver.
