Purpose

Ensure that safe working practices are adhered to at all times, including wearing PPE as appropriate. Acquire knowledge of Health & Safety procedures, work instructions, and associated documentation. Comply with all Health & Safety Policies and instructions and actively contribute to Company efforts to promote safe behaviour and safe systems of work.


Responsibilities
  • Carry out risk assessments and consider how risks could be reduced.
  • Outline safe operational procedures which identify and take into account all relevant hazards.
  • Carry out regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented.
  • Ensure working practices are safe and comply with legislation.
  • Prepare Environmental health and safety strategies and develop internal policy.
  • Lead in-house training with managers and employees about Environmental health and safety issues and risks.
  • Keep records of inspection findings and produce reports that suggest improvements.
  • Record incidents and accidents and produce statistics for managers.
  • Keep up to date with new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of all Environmental Health and Safety legislation and any developments that affect the employer’s industry.
  • Update, maintain and create EHS KPI’s, ensuring all EH&S KPI’s are achieved and improvements or opportunities identified are recorded and actioned.
  • Liaise with maintenance department on the selection, induction and control of external contractors on site.
  • Produce management reports, statistics to enable annual SMART targets for the site.
  • Ensure equipment is installed safely and maintained to a safe standard.
  • Manage and Organise the safe disposal of hazardous substances, e.g. asbestos etc.
  • Advise on a range of specialist areas, e.g. fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery and occupational diseases.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.  Will include participating in special projects as identified.
Education and or Experience:
  • BSc in Environmental Health / Relevant Qualification
  • Strong communication skills
  • 2+ years in a manufacturing / pharma wok environment
  • Full driving license
  • Excellent communicator
  • Effective, clear and positive delivery on H&S across the site
  • Be present and support the SLT on all H&S aspects
  • Ensuring all site H&S related cases are closed out in a mannerly time frame
  • Support, educate and maintain a positive H&S culture onsite

Assist with audits, both internal and external
