Purpose

Responsible for the maintenance and reliability of machines, equipment and Services. This role is crucial in maintaining the efficiency and safety of production processes, minimizing downtime, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.


Key Responsibilities
Health & Safety
  • Report any Health and Safety incidents and/or near misses.
  • Conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement measures to mitigate risks.
  • Investigate incidents and near-misses to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Perform regular safety audits and inspections to ensure a safe working environment.
Technical Support
  • Diagnose electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic & mechanical issues on machines and related equipment in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Maintain and update technical documentation for equipment and systems.
  • Collaborate with engineering team to implement solutions that enhance equipment reliability.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and repairs on Pragma system.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to technical operators.
  • Manage spare parts inventory to ensure critical components are available when needed.
  • Maintain a spares management system to track usage and reorder parts efficiently.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of spare parts and materials.
  • Optimize inventory levels to balance cost and availability of spare parts.
  • Monitor and improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) to maximize machine availability and performance.
  • Develop and execute preventative maintenance programs to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Analyse maintenance costs and identify opportunities for cost savings.
  • Identify training needs and provide development opportunities for maintenance personnel.
  • Create TPM Programme for Nelipak Galway
  • Ensure maintenance team close off their works orders
  • Identifying schedule risks that may result in delayed delivery and/or downtime,
  • Assign tasks to maintenance technicians,
  • Prioritise a health and safety culture within the maintenance team
  • Monitor and reduce downtime in conjunction with technicians and engineers as part of the machine downtime escalation process
  • Report to engineering and production on critical downtime,
  • Ensure adherence to any 5S activity is maintained and operated within the area,
  • Deliver H&S toolbox talks to maintenance team,
  • Liaise with Senior engineer regarding the maintenance teams annual leave plan on a weekly basis,
  • Ensure maintenance team close off their training and allow time in schedule,
  • Always Adhere to Safety Procedures. Report all accidents/incidents, near misses to Safety Officer and Line Leader/Production Supervisor,
  • Carry out the above tasks whilst conforming to good manufacturing practice (GMP)– keeping the work environment clean, safe and orderly,
New Technology and Equipment
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance machine reliability and efficiency
  • Support the scoping, installation, and commissioning of new machinery and equipment.
  • Drive innovation by identifying and implementing new technologies and processes.
  • Identify and evaluate automation opportunities to streamline production processes and reduce manual intervention.
  • Stay updated on the latest automation technologies and industry trends to recommend and implement improvements.
 
Qualification & Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field with 3+ years of relevant experience.

Or

  • A trade qualification with 5+ years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong Technical Engineering knowledge and problem-solving skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills are essential and must be a team player.
  • Ability to work on their own initiative.
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic and self-motivated. Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work across functions as part of a manufacturing support team
