Purpose

As a Manufacturing Manager the safety of your people is a top priority and as such you must ensure that all direct staff comply with NHP Health and Safety procedures and processes. You will be involved with the planning, coordination and control of Manufacturing processes, ensuring products are produced efficiently and right first time. You will review performance KPI’s daily and align accordingly to meet targets, promote a continuous improvement culture, and identify CI opportunities and training needs whilst driving motivation within Production. You will report directly to the Operations Director for the Derry site. Your direct reports include a team of Shift Performance Managers, Process Cell Managers, and Team Leads. You will also have responsibility for the Maintenance, Facilities, and Warehouse departments. You will work closely with EHS, Quality, Process Engineers, and Planners to ensure the efficient running of NHP Derry production and Warehouse processes.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure that safe working practices are adhered to at all times, including wearing PPE as appropriate. Acquire knowledge of Health & Safety procedures, work instructions, and associated documentation. Comply with all Health & Safety Policies and instructions and actively contribute to Company efforts to promote safe behaviour and safe systems of work.
  • Acts as an EHS leader who guides and supports employee behaviour and cultural development to support safety initiatives, incident prevention, and overall program improvements. Works in conjunction with the EHS Manager to establish and develop policies and programs to assure a safe working environment.
  • Be recognised as a Leader and problem solver by providing leadership and expertise to solve problems and improve performance. Facilitate best practice knowledge sharing internally with peers to improve skills and flexibility.
  • Deliver optimised operational efficiency, through driving asset OEE and ensure that the labour model reflects demand.
  • Focus on cost, delivering lowest possible cost of operation whilst achieving Safety, Quality and output metrics.
  • Productivity of the plant per man hour, should be a key focus area.
  • Coach and mentor, development programmes, Disciplinary & Grievance, Absence management, investigations, performance appraisals, succession planning, create positive partnerships, supervising and motivating.
  • Motivate and coach the Operations Team to communicate expectations, standards and evaluate results.
  • Ensure all team members are managed in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures. Plan, schedule and direct the work efforts of the team.
  • Team Communications/meeting provide constructive feedback, visual management, regular performance presentations.
  • Build and maintain positive/professional working relationships with internal and external customer base to maximize efficiencies and resolve discrepancies.
  • Provides updates and identifies trends on projects, tasks, and progress.
  • Acts as a backup to the team as needed and mentors new team members as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. Will include participating in special projects as identified.


Education and/or Experience
:

Essential Criteria:

  •  Degree Qualified or a Minimum of five years’ experience managing a team in a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • WCOM / lean six-sigma knowledge.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Proven management skills with strong leadership attributes, ability to learn and apply new concepts and overcome obstacles with change management skills.

Desirable Criteria:

  •  NEBOSH or equivalent.
  •  SAP knowledge / experience.
  •  Demonstrable experience of using structured problem-solving techniques.
  •  Lean Qualification Desirable
