Title: Manufacturing Team Leader

Purpose
We are seeking 4 x Manufacturing Team Leaders who will be responsible for the safe, efficient and compliant running of the manufacturing area, ensuring quality standards and output targets are met. Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, you will lead, motivate and develop a team of operators to deliver on Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost performance indicators. You will play a key role in continuous improvement and embedding a high-performance culture within the shift.
Responsibilities
- Provide People Leadership: Lead, coach, and motivate a team of production operators. This involves conducting performance reviews, managing attendance, handling disciplinary issues, and cultivating a positive team culture built on accountability and trust.
- Ensure Operational Efficiency: Oversee the day-to-day manufacturing processes, monitoring key metrics such as OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), downtime, and scrap rates. The role requires taking corrective actions when necessary and ensuring smooth shift handovers through detailed reporting.
- Champion Health & Safety and Quality: Strictly enforce H&S and quality standards (GMP, ISO 9001, BRCGS). This includes leading by example in the use of PPE, performing safety walks, identifying non-conformances, and supporting emergency response plans.
- Drive Continuous Improvement: Actively support Lean initiatives, 5S housekeeping standards, and encourage operator involvement in problem-solving and waste reduction activities.
- Manage Communication and Reporting: Facilitate daily team briefings to align the team on targets and updates, liaise effectively with cross-functional departments (Maintenance, QA, Planning), and provide timely, accurate performance summaries to management.
Criteria:
- Must have prior supervisory experience in a manufacturing setting with strong knowledge of production processes and key metrics (OEE, scrap, efficiency).
- Working knowledge of Health & Safety and Quality Management systems (ISO 9001 / BRCGS preferred).
- Confident communicator, computer literate (MS Office), and possessing strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- A positive, flexible, and detail-oriented approach with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Lean/CI experience, and First Aid/Fire Marshal training are beneficial extras.
