About the job…Senior Technical Manager – Clara, Co. Offaly
Reporting to the Plant Director, this role is responsible for leading the Engineering & Op Ex site function by driving continuous improvement, resulting in measurable gains in efficiency, quality, and cost reduction, supporting World Class Operations on site and managing all Engineering, Maintenance, Facilities & Project activities at the plant in a safe and efficient manner. The Technical & Manufacturing Op Ex Manager will be a key member of the site Leadership team and will be involved in decision making and leading continuous improvements on site wide to help achieve the plant’s annual operating plan.
- Champion employee behaviour and cultural development to support safety initiatives, incident prevention, and overall program improvements.
- Work in conjunction with the EHS Officer to establish and develop policies and programs to assure a safe working environment.
- Be recognised as a Leader and problem solver providing leadership and expertise to solve complex problems and improve performance.
- Facilitate best practice knowledge sharing internally with peers to improve skills and flexibility.
- Supports Manufacturing in the delivery of a World Class Op Ex Programme from Tier Boards to 6S audits to Efficiencies.
- Work with the CI Manager to manage and integrate lean philosophy into the culture of the site as a daily Way of Working.
- Identify areas and coordinate cost saving projects on site across specifically the Technical and Manufacturing functions.
- Initiate and lead employee training to further instill the continuous improvement skillset in the organisation.
- Provide regular, timely and constructive feedback to new and existing employees.
- Comply with the training system and actively support it and implement ideas for improvement.
- Provide direction and leadership to the engineering team and manage team performance to ensure it fulfils internal and external site maintenance requirements, repairs and general ad hoc tasks are executed on time and appropriately.
- Support cross training on site ensuring the delivery of a robust cross training programme across all business units.
- Lead the roll out of CMMS locally and ensure the implementation is delivered to planned timelines.
- Execute a robust preventative & predictive maintenance programme aligned with CI/Op Ex initiatives to deliver best in class line performance.
- Ensure essential critical spares in stock based on risk whilst balanced to budgetary requirements.
Have you?
- Degree in technical discipline such as Engineering or Industrial Technology [essential]
- Medical devices experience and bias towards Quality and a “Right First Time” methodology.
- A minimum of three years previous Engineering management experience in a manufacturing setting: with responsibility for people management, improvement projects, including mechanical and electrical equipment design, installation, modification and maintenance. [essential]
- Proven analytical thinking, results orientation, and problem-solving skills.
