Manufacturing Engineer

Nelipak Healthcare Packaging, part of the global Nelipak Corporation is a world leader in the design, development and manufacturing of custom designed thermoformed packaging of the medical device and pharmaceutical industries – Nelipak Healthcare Packaging operate within 10 sites Globally and 5 sites within Europe.

We are seeking to recruit an Manufacturing Engineer within our Galway facility. Reporting into the Engineering Manager, The successful candidate will be responsible for providing daily technical support of production processes, products, equipment and materials. Driving continuously improvement of Manufacturing processes across the site to achieve the strategic goals of Safety, Quality, Service and Cost.

The post-holder will be required to demonstrate capability across a broad scope of activities. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Promotion of Safety and Quality culture by driving proactive programs to positively influence the Technical and Operational groups
  • Drive a Continuous Improvement culture buy implementing Lean and Six Sigma tools and principles
  • Identify and implement changes that will improve the line output and yields
  • Develop work instructions, visual standards, and test methods
  • Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency,

    and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality

  • Analyse and implement innovative improvements in operational performance through key overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) metrics.
  • Work with Technical Operators and general operators on a day to day basis to understand and support their needs from a problem solving perspective.

The Candidate:

  • Passionate about lean implementation with a solid track record of success
  • Strong engineering and technical expertise
  • Highly curious about innovative products and processes with a history of bringing these into an organisation
  • Good communicator
  • Ability to create and execute improvement and innovation plans efficiently
  • Experience in thermoforming, die cutting, HF welding and automation advantageous
  • Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, or relevant engineering discipline.
    • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
    • Possess a hands-on approach and practical engineering skills.
  • Experience of Six Sigma, the 5 S’s approach to manufacturing, General “Good Manufacturing Practice”
