1953
Nelipak starts in Venray, Netherlands.
Mr. Loek Nelissen and his family relocate to Venray in the south of the Netherlands and set up a small contract packing company with the aim to provide work for local women in a post-World War II Europe.
1962
Nelipak introduces first vacuum thermoforming machine
Nelipak moves into rigid plastic packaging with its first vacuum thermoforming machine, developing business solutions for the medical, consumer, retail, and automotive markets. By this time, Nelipak expanded its operations into Germany, France, and Belgium.
1980
Nelipak introduces the first-ever, purpose-built cleanroom for medical thermoform packaging
Nelipak grows its medical business across Europe, seeing a need in the market. We introduce the first-ever, purpose-built cleanroom for medical thermoform packaging.
1995
Nelipak acquires Galway, Ireland-based Plasmedics – becoming Europe’s leading thermoforming
Nelipak continues to grow its medical business across the European healthcare market. To address market demand and lead the industry, Nelipak introduces the first-ever, purpose-built Cleanroom for medical thermoforming packaging.
2007
Nelipak acquires Alga Plastics in Cranston, Rhode Island, USA – expanding into North America
Nelipak expands production capability into North America with the addition of Alga Plastics in Cranston, Rhode Island, USA.
2012
Nelipak furthers reach with acquisition of thermoforming business in Costa Rica
Nelipak expands reach with the acquisition of ATE’s Costa Rican thermoforming business, serving North and Central American clients.
2013
Nelipak celebrates their 60th anniversary – establishes Global HQ in Cranston, RI
Nelipak celebrates sixty years in business. From a small workshop with a handful of employees packing products for one customer to an operation employing hundreds of people in four countries, serving leading medical device and pharmaceutical customer worldwide. In a strategic growth move, Cranston, RI is established as Nelipak’s Global Headquarters.
2014
Acquisition pushes Nelipak westward into Arizona, USA
Nelipak closes on the acquisition of Flexpak Corporation in Phoenix, Arizona, USA – a company founded in 1974 as a manufacturer of custom thermoformed trays, clamshells, and blisters. This addition positioned Nelipak for growth opportunities in the Southwest US and Northern Mexican regions.
2016
Nelipak acquires sixth facility in Puerto Rico
Nelipak acquires Tegrant Alloyd Brands’ Juncos site to become our sixth facility, expanding the group’s presence serving local and international medical device and pharmaceutical customers in Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic.
2017
Computer Designs, Inc joins the Nelipak family.
Computer Designs, Inc (CDI) – of Whitehall, Pennsylvania and its business interests in North America and Puerto Rico – joins the Nelipak family. CDI’s strong design, operational excellence, and manufacturing capabilities complements Nelipak’s existing offerings and portfolio – firmly positioned as a global leader in healthcare packaging
2019
Nelipak adds flexibles packaging with three new sites in Ireland and UK
Nelipak brought in three new business units in flexible healthcare packaging from its Bemis Healthcare Packaging Europe acquisition – Clara, Ireland; Derry, Northern Ireland, UK; Elsham, England, UK. This uniquely positions Nelipak as a one-stop-shop packaging solutions provider for medical and pharmaceutical customers.

Nelipak set to open an 11th site in Winston-Salem, NC, USA – our first flexibles site in the Americas
Nelipak is set to open its 11th manufacturing site in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA. The company built, calibrated, and is set to operate a brand-new building – the first flexibles site in the Americas region, furthering Nelipak’s commitment to customers in the North America market.
