Title: Maintenance Technician- Galway

Department: Manufacturing Engineer

Location: Galway, Ireland

 

Purpose

Responsible for the maintenance and reliability of thermoforming machines, equipment and Services. This role is crucial in maintaining the efficiency and safety of production processes, minimizing downtime, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Health & Safety

• Report any Health and Safety incidents and/or near misses.
• Electrical/Mechanical/Hydraulic/Pneumatic Isolation of equipment to ensure equipment is safe to work on.
• Conduct routine inspections of equipment and ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.

Technical Support

• Perform preventative and reactive maintenance on machinery and equipment to minimize downtime.
• Diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic & mechanical issues on thermoforming machines and related equipment in a timely and efficient manner.
• Identify areas in which maintenance capability should be improved (areas of focus to include technology understanding and problems solving techniques), lead improvement in these capabilities and reduce dependence on external resources.
• Collaborate with engineering team to implement solutions that enhance equipment reliability.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and repairs on Pragma system.
• Provide technical support and guidance to technical operators.
• Manage spare parts inventory to ensure critical components are available when needed.
• Maintain a spares management system to track usage and reorder parts efficiently.
• Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of spare parts and materials.
• Optimize inventory levels to balance cost and availability of spare parts.
• Monitor and improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) to maximize machine availability and performance.
• Develop and execute preventative maintenance programs to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
• Clean and maintain machines post-work to ensure they are in optimal condition for manufacture.

New Technology and Equipment

• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance machine reliability and efficiency
• Support the scoping, installation, and commissioning of new machinery and equipment.
• Drive innovation by identifying and implementing new technologies and processes.
• Identify and evaluate automation opportunities to streamline production processes and reduce manual intervention.

Stay updated on the latest automation technologies and industry trends to recommend and implement improvements.

Key requirements for Role include:

• Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems; PLC experience
• Fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced setting.
• A proactive approach to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
• Maintenance experience within a GMP regulated environment.
